ST HELENA

There really is only one practical anchorage at St. Helena:

  • James Bay in front of Jamestown.

There is now (February 2013) a really good mooring field with about
two dozens of strong, brand new moorings.

ASCENSION

There really is only one practical anchorage at Ascension:

  • Clarence Bay in front of Georgetown.

Holding is good in sand, but be aware of the floating pipeline.
Anchor in 12-15 metres well off the beach as there can be a dangerous
swell, especially at spring tides.

FERNANDO DE NARONHA

There really is only one practical anchorage at Fernando de Noronha:

  • Bahia de Santo Antonio.

Holding is good in hard sand, but be aware of floating mooring ropes.
Do not venture into the anchorage in the dark, but you can anchor at night in depths over 20 metres. In daylight, anchor in 12-15 metres well off the beach as there can be a dangerous swell, especially at spring tides. Behind the breakwater is a very well protected and convenient, all-tide, dinghy dock.

This harbour is the most expensive we have visited during all our 22 years of cruising. In 2013 we paid around 500 USD for 3 nights for a 43 ft yacht with 2 persons aboard. No services are included in the fee and you are using your own anchor! However, the officials are very friendly and helpful.
